“Don’t Be That Way” – Chick Webb And His Orchestra (1934)

Gene Krupa’s friend, mentor and inspiration, Chick Webb.

In another video, Chick Webb’s drumming will be the focus but for today, let’s hear from someone in the bandstand: session musician and valve trombone soloist, Claude Jones.

Benny Goodman may have looked good on television, but Chick Webb and his Orchestra never failed to define swing music with every backbeat and measure.
